Trying on age simulation gear

Design Thinking student wearing age simulation gear

Despite this image of me looks amusing, wearing all that gear had a more serious inpact on me.

Today I went on a trip to Practice-and Innovation house (Praksis- og Innovationshuset) with my fellow Design Thinking student colleagues. It's a simulation environment for students within health e.g. occupational therapy to train for their future careers. They ofcause get practical experiences from internships, but this place can give a proper physical one. This is possible by giving them the ability to be able to feel how it is to walk a mile in their patients shoes. I surely gained a better understanding and even more empathy for the elderly by trying out their age simulation weights, goggles and ear muffs. The robotic seal plush toy I was holding is meant to bring comfort to patients with e.g. dementia. For my chosen elective within Design Thinking, my fellow co-students and I received an interesting case where we get to find a solution for optimised facilitation. I really hope that this place will be introduced to far more citizens besides students within health and care.

As an end note, I want to remind you to call your grandparents more often 📞
